Lianna is a native New Yorker. She grew up just outside of the city, in Westchester County. She developed an early love of literature, and spent many afternoons in the library as a teenager. She attended Smith College, where she majored in Women’s Studies. While there, she discovered her love of education along with a passion to dissect and make sense of history. After college she moved to the city and received a Master’s degree from NYU in English Education. She then left New York, and has been an educator in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Chicago. She has taught English, history, religion, and ethics, as well as managed various after school and summer programs. She loves working with individual students at Fusion Academy. She is able to help students build writing and analytical skills while reading amazing books in English or exploring fascinating primary source documents in history. In her free time, she enjoys hiking with her small dog and discovering new types of tea.
