Lauren Anthony

Director of Student Development

Lauren was born in Mobile, Al. and later moved to Atlanta to study psychology at Emory University. While a student, she worked as an assistant teacher in a Pre-K class and later returned to her hometown to teach one of her own. A lifelong learner, she continued her education in a pre medical post baccalaureate program at University of South Alabama. She gained her stripes in such sciences as organic and inorganic chemistry, biology, biochemistry, anatomy and physiology, and microbiology. Lauren later taught Anatomy and Physiology in a summer enrichment program for high school seniors.

Lauren worked as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor and Case Manager for 3 years, while also tutoring middle school children. While she no longer wishes to pursue addictions counseling, the knowledge and experience has had an invaluable impact on her ability to mentor and counsel the students she has taught and tutored. She decided, instead, to fervently pursue the occupation that never seemed like work at all, which was education, of course! She pioneered the Houston-Galleria campus, the first campus in Houston. As a fellow Fusionite, Lauren taught math and science for over a year, before accepting her current role of Director of Student Development at the Sugar Land campus. She is temporarily doubling as the Director of First Impressions as well.

Lauren enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Though she has no children of her own yet, her nine year old niece, Haylee, and six year old nephew, Nicholas, work hard to properly prepare her for parenthood and she enjoys every moment of it! Lauren comes from a closely knit family, who observes Mardi Gras as their annual family reunion in Mobile, the original birthplace of Mardi Gras in North America. (Eat your heart out New Orleans!) Some fun facts include that her happy place is the beach, spirit animal is the frog, and her favorite movie is Their Eyes Were Watching God. Her favorite color is silver, she loves singing karaoke and being the southern girl she is, she accessorizes almost everything with pearls.
