Laura is excited to open and lead Fusion’s Washington, DC campus!
A native of the Washington, DC area, Laura graduated summa cum laude from Vassar College with an A.B in Anthropology and Sociology from Vassar College, an M.A in Education Policy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and will earn an Ed.D in Education Leadership and Policy from The George Washington University in 2016.
Developing and implementing paradigm-shifting approaches to adolescent education is her passion and purpose. Immediately prior to joining Fusion, Laura founded a new campus of an independent school in the DC area while working to improve and lead the existing campus. While at the school, she developed a school-wide curriculum and empirically based custom learning plans, led professional development, and was a leader in all aspects of school development and operations.
Additionally, Laura also founded and ran a successful educational services business that provided tutoring, courses and college advising for students that honored their emotional and social development as equal to their academic development. Previously, she worked as a researcher at the Wisconsin Center for Education Research where she collaborated on numerous publications including a book on K-20 education partnerships in STEM disciplines.
In her free time, Laura loves to travel, attend plays, concerts and movies and cultural fairs, window shop, and hang out with her husband, Boston terrier, and pot-bellied pig.
