Kourtney is a native Texan and graduated from Arlington Martin High School in 2009. Growing up in a theatrical family, she has performed in over 20 productions and watches live theatre any chance she gets. When she’s not teaching, she is in the homework café encouraging the students to “scan it!”
Kourtney graduated from The University of Oklahoma in May of 2014 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism with an emphasis on Broadcasting and Electronic Media. After college, she made a drastic career change and taught American Sign Language for two years. In this time she earned her teaching certificate, won First year teacher of the year, helped create LISD’s first online ASL program, and married the love of her life! This experience reignited her passion for signing and she is now enrolled in Tarrant County College’s Sign Language Interpreting program.
In her free time, she can be found signing, signing, playing with her cat, watching a documentary, or doing DIY projects (a.k.a. wreaking havoc) at her house!
