Originally from NJ, Katie came to California for college where she earned a BA in Political Science from UC, Berkeley. After studying abroad in France, Katie wanted to travel more and taught English in rural China, Spain, Guatemala, El Salvador, Manhattan, and Los Angeles. Other subjects she has taught include Writing, the SAT, International Development, History, and Politics. In her free time, Katie loves discovering good books to read, hearing math jokes, bad puns, random trivia, and couldn’t live without mochas or hot chocolates.
Katie’s teaching philosophy is a mix of democratic and interest based academic achievement; students discover and develop their own interests within a subject area while meeting core standards to learn about topics that they find relevant and can interact with.
