Kate Brubaker, LMFT, received a BS in Marketing Communications from Emerson College in Boston, MA, and her MS in Counseling Psychology from Dominican University in San Rafael, CA. Kate has worked at multiple high schools as a therapeutic counselor. She has also held positions as a counselor at the Center for Innovative DBT and Marin Behavioral Health. Within the high school setting, Kate focused on individual therapy, ran therapy groups, and worked collaboratively with parents, teachers, and community resources. At the Center for Innovative DBT, Kate specialized in adolescent individual work and ran DBT skills groups. At Marin Behavioral Health Kate worked with a dynamic clientele with which she utilized a variety of treatment modalities. Kate has worked with individuals of all ages in various stages of life, though her focus lies on treating adolescents with anxiety and depression disorders, self-harm and impulsive behaviors, low confidence/self esteem, challenging family dynamics, and life transitions. Kate has received formal training in DBT and Motivational Interviewing. Currently, Kate holds a position as lead counselor at Fusion Academy in San Rafael and also runs her own Marin-based private practice. Kate strives to guide her clients towards achieving an increased level of confidence and self worth, as well as a sense of balance, contentment, and hope in their lives.
