Karen is the Director of First Impressions at Fusion Academy Los Gatos.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from California State University Long Beach.
While living in Long Beach, she was an intern at the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services where she found her passion for working with children and families.
Shortly after graduating, she came home to Santa Clara County and began working at a children and family service agency where she remained for the next decade. During her time there she was a milieu activity therapist, family specialist and community development coordinator.
She then took time off to raise her two children. She quickly found herself volunteering in the classrooms and coordinating fundraisers. Later she became the PTA Fundraiser and PTA President.
When her children got older, she renewed her passion to help support children and their families while working as a substitute Special Ed Associate for a public school district. She found that all the students in a classroom learn at a different pace and that they have different academic needs.
Karen loves soccer, so during her free time she plays 1 to 3 times a week, coaches competitive youth soccer, attends youth and professional soccer matches, and volunteers for a youth soccer club. She also loves camping with her families and friends, taking day hikes, fishing, and skiing.
