Justin Lafreniere was born in New York and raised in Northern Virginia. He moved to North Carolina to earn his degree in English from Queens University of Charlotte, where he also began volunteering in a variety of programs working with people with disabilities. After graduating, he worked as a teacher in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools before returning to Fairfax. He earned his MFA in Fiction from George Mason University and his writing has appeared in The Postgame, Charlotte Viewpoint, and other publications. He is formerly the Fiction Editor for So to Speak: a feminist journal of language and art and currently the Prose Editor for Stillhouse Press, a small independent publisher.
In addition to teaching at Fusion, Justin teaches literature and writing at George Mason University.
