Julie teaches English and social studies at Fusion Austin, because she loves the interplay between fact and fiction. She has taught in public schools in Austin and for The Princeton Review, and for many years she worked tirelessly in technology and executive communications. Her passion for the appreciation of the written word brought her back to teaching, and her passion for individualized student success brought her to Fusion Austin.
Julie is a product of a public school education and a private college environment. The stark differences between her very large, very competitive public high school and her comparatively small liberal arts university highlighted for Julie the benefits of mentorship by teachers and professors, and the incentive of accountability students feel in a smaller or 1:1 learning environment. Today, Julie realizes the positive impact of such an environment every hour she teaches at Fusion. Julie feels that for teachers and students, that accountability is a two-way street.
When Julie isn’t teaching, she is traveling, chilling or hiking with her family, browsing at Book People or carrying armloads of books to and from the library.
