“If my students aren’t laughing, I’m not doing my job.” This has been Joanna Wisniewski’s teaching mantra for the 7+ years she has been in the classroom. She brings her eternal passion for learning and love to the Fusion Family via her experience in standardized test prep, one-on-one academic tutoring, and her much-cherished and utilized Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy from UC Berkeley (Go Bears!). It is from her undergrad studies that Joanna holds a particularly unique approach to education: as an English & History teacher, she champions the importance of the seeing the “big picture,” often through the lens of understanding the human condition and the past’s implications on the future. In addition to her teacher/mentor role, Joanna is also Fusion SF’s Student Services Coordinator, working to provide guidance & support for students and their families with college plans on the brain. She considers herself a Renaissance woman, as she loves to geek out about the music group Radiohead, professional sports (especially football), and making fun of bad movies a la the cast of Mystery Science Theater 3000. She also proudly wears her “nerd” and “gamer” badges on a daily basis, making her pretty easy to get along with. Never hesitate to come say hi!
