Jim has been teaching in one capacity or another for most of his adult life. He has a BA in Secondary Education, English and Theatre from Drury University in Missouri, and an MFA in Acting from The New School for Drama here in New York. He started teaching as a Taekwondo instructor when he was a teenager and worked as a middle school math and reading tutor throughout college. He taught high school English and Drama in Missouri, and spent two years teaching various levels of ESL to international students at Kaplan International School in SoHo. Since, he has worked as an administrator at the Harlem YMCA, overseeing a free adult education program that includes both ESL and Adult Basic Education (GED classes). Jim is also an actor and is always working on one project or another somewhere in the city. In the brief moments when not working one his jobs or spending time with his family, Jim continues to deepen his lifelong obsession with comic books. Ask him about your favorite superhero if you’ve got an hour to kill.
