Jennifer is committed to keeping the flame burning brightly in the students of Walnut Creek as a Teacher/Mentor in the Social Studies department.
A recent transplant to the Bay Area from Hawaii, she earned a BA in International Studies from Hawaii Pacific University, then returned to school and completed her Teaching Certification in Secondary Social Studies at Notre Dame College of Ohio. She spent a year teaching at-risk high school students in Hawaii, helping mentor, coax and cajole them into graduating. Preferring “outside the box” programs for imparting knowledge, she also served as the program director/lead teacher for a non-profit organization that taught computer skills classes to students ranging from 6 to 86 years old, ran an afterschool tutoring program, and offered enrichment classes utilizing an array of video, photo and music editing software. Consequently, she discovered the joy of coupling the technical skill of education with the art of understanding how people are unique, which she hopes to share with the students at Fusion.
Outside of Fusion, Jennifer and her husband keep busy running a household of 4 boys, 2 girls, 2 fish and an iguana. She is an accomplished billiard player, avid karaoke practitioner, reformed procrastinator, and an adventurous cook.
