Jeanette Rumsby, who teaches English literature, writing, and language arts, is passionate about fostering a love for literature in students of all ages from all backgrounds. Jeanette graduated Summa Cum Laude from Saint Mary’s College of California with a degree in English literature. Since graduation, she has been working with San Jose State’s Steinbeck Research Institute to help develop resources for their program, “Steinbeck in the Schools.” Steinbeck ranking number one on Jeanette’s extensive list of favorite authors, this project has been more exciting for her than many people would understand/be willing to admit. In addition to teaching at Fusion Academy, Jeanette works for Links Through Learning, where she helps students with learning differences tackle their academics and develop efficient and effective learning habits. When she isn’t in the classroom or giddily climbing mountains of Steinbeckian lit-theory, Jeanette loves to camp, hike, explore tide-pools, whale-watch, and run in circles with her pompadoured guinea pig. Despite being a terrible swimmer, Jeanette’s life-long dream is to learn to dive so she can swim with humpback whales.
