jared is just bristling to share his passions for inquiry-based education in the Homework Cafe, supporting students socially, emotionally, and academically Fusion LA. A third-generation Angeleno, jared received a BA in Television and Video Production from Loyola Marymount University, a degree that landed him his first classroom teaching position in Eugene, Oregon. In 2012, he completed a multiple subject teaching credential at Antioch University, Los Angeles, and completed his Master of Arts in Education in 2013.
Whether teaching gymnastics to toddlers, snowboarding to underserved teens, Ultimate Frisbee to the uninitiated, bicycle mechanics to adults or geometry to the math-averse, jared relies on his solid background of learner-centered educational practices to meet his students at their levels of wants and needs in any given situation. When in doubt, he relies upon John Dewey, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, Rudolf Steiner, William Glasser, Mel Levine, and Paolo Freire for pedagogical guidance.
In his free time, jared is a real mover, shaker, and sometimes couch tater. You can find him riding his bicycles all over the city, surfing in the Pacific Ocean, or shakin’ what his momma gave him (rhythm) on the dance floor. But he is most happy, laying on the couch, reading or listening to the radio, with his wife and rescue dog.
