Jackie Gitlin

History Teacher/ Mentor

Before teaching, Jackie worked in many places including a Geographic Information Systems office working on Photoshop and Graphic Design projects, as a researcher and social media guru for the C.V. Starr Center for the Study of the American Experience, and as a research intern for United States House of Representative’s Historian’s Office.
She graduated Cum Laude from Washington College with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Secondary Education. After graduating, she continued to live on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and taught US government and politics at Kent County High School . After leaving the shore for the mainland, she taught at Montgomery County Schools, teaching United States History.
As a writer, poet, artist, and historian, Jackie has worn many hats. She teaches at a creative writing camp for high school teens in Spartanburg, South Carolina every summer and has a love of science fiction and fantasy and often finds the weird in everyday life.
She has traveled extensively from Jerusalem, London, Austria, and back. She spends most of her time reading, writing, and can even be found sword-fighting practicing fencing and archery, to hone her medieval skills.
