Heather McKinney

Assistant Director & Regional Training Facilitator

As an Assistant Director, Heather helps to promote a vibrant campus culture for students and staff that promotes a sense of belonging, safety, learning and fun! She has been part of the Fusion family since 2012 after teaching at a public school in Pennsylvania for four years. She began her Fusion journey as a humanities teacher at the Fusion Warner Center campus. Then she helped open to the Park Avenue campus as its first history and English teacher and became the History Department Head. In 2014, she moved to Morristown, NJ to help open the Morristown campus as the Master Teacher and served for four years as the Head of School. During her time at Fusion, Heather became a regional Wellness trainer and is grateful to now help as a New Fusionite Orientation facilitator and Community Minds trainer for the East Coast region. She loves facilitating trainings and helps bring out the best in others by leveraging their talents and gifts.

Heather earned her Bachelor’s degree is from LaSalle University in Elementary/Special Education and American Studies and her Master’s degree is from Arcadia University in Education and History. As the fifth generation of teachers in her family stemming back to a one-room schoolhouse in Connecticut, teaching is practically in Heather’s blood.

When she is not teaching, Heather enjoys reading, being physically active, and going for walks with her dog, Sir Templeton. She has an extensive athletic background, most notably holding a second degree black belt and earning a spot on the 2004 U.S. Taekwon-do Team with whom she competed at the World Championships in South Korea. Heather also loves traveling and cooking delicious Paleo meals. She supports her hometown sports teams and will always participate in random dance parties. You might even catch her belting out songs while driving in her car. (Just remember that second degree black belt before you point and laugh…)
She is grateful to continue her Fusion journey with Fusion Princeton’s incredible team and thrilled to be part of a learning environment without limits.
