University of California, Los Angeles, B.A. Ethnomusicology Jazz Studies
Born and raised in Berkeley, California, Grant Milliken has been studying classical and jazz piano since he was four years old. After playing for four years in the prestigious world-renowned Berkeley High School Jazz Ensemble, Grant earned his degree in Ethnomusicology Jazz Studies at UCLA. He has studied with some of the best musicians and educators in Los Angeles, including Kenny Burrell, James Newton, and Tamir Hendelman, and has performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival, The Reno Jazz Festival, in Havana, Cuba, and countless clubs throughout LA and the SF Bay Area.
In addition to sharing his love of music here at Fusion, Grant is also continuing his music career as a freelance keyboardist. He plays in multiple bands that range from jazz, to soul, to hip hop groups, and he also composes his own music.
In his free time, Grant mainly enjoys forays into the wilderness as well as rock climbing.
