Fred Miller

History and English Teacher/Mentor

Fredrick received his Masters of Art in English Studies from Saint Cloud State University in Saint Cloud Minnesota. He has a Teaching English as a Foreign Language Certificate from Hamline University in Saint Paul Minnesota and a BA in English from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. Fred discovered his love of teaching while assisting his English Language Learner staff members and tutoring Le Cordon Bleu students as a sous chef at the old Minneapolis Café. While attending the University of Minnesota he taught a Peoples and Stories ESL class for the Minneapolis Public Library. After graduating Hamline’s TEFL program he taught ESL at the Hmong American Partnership in Saint Paul. While at Saint Cloud State Fred worked as a tutor and consultant for the Writing Center, instructed two Composition and Rhetoric classes per semester as a TA, edited for the Upper Mississippi Harvest Literary Journal, and was a liaison to the American Indian Center. Since relocating to the North Bay, Fred has been working as an instructor at the Santa Rosa Junior College, The Alexander Valley School, ELS Santa Rosa, and here at the Fusion Academy.

Fred is an avid hiker. He has done extensive domestic travel and has spent time in England, Belgium, and France. When he’s not reading, cooking, or strolling along the seashore he can be found at home with his young family—telling stories and making toys by hand.
