Emma “Preston”

ASL Teacher/Mentor

When asked in the first grade what she wanted to be when she grew up, Preston answered definitively “Teacher.” It wasn’t until she graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics, and a Bachelor of Science in Deaf Studies, that she realized she wanted to teach American Sign Language. She has always loved languages, but she especially appreciates the visual nature of ASL, and her ability to converse easily with someone across a noisy room.

Although she escaped to Boston for her undergraduate studies, she has happily returned to the city of her birth to pursue a master’s from Columbia Teachers College (and join the Fusion family!).

In Preston’s spare time, you can almost certainly find her playing Ultimate Frisbee or figuring out how to explain gravity to a 9 year old!
