Emily was born and raised in Arlington, Virginia. Although, a true native, she is very international. She lived in Bangladesh for 2 years as a toddler and has been travelling ever since. She spent a year in Heidelberg, Germany and a year in London, England. Following that, she was in San Antonio, TX for 2 years, but the D.C. area will always be home.
Emily graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She then received a Certificate in Information Technology from The University of Virginia. Following that she earned a Master’s of Business Administration from George Mason University.
Emily’s first “Big Girl” job was with The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, where she was a Data Analyst. She went on to work for SAP in Germany as a Media Developer and then to London as a Management Consultant with AlixPartners. Coming back state-side she landed in San Antonio where she found the love for teaching. She always knew it was inside her somewhere, but the International Academy of Design and Technology allowed it to come alive. She taught Accounting, Business Law, Business Math, College Algebra, Human Resources Management, and Finance. Moving back to Virginia, found her exploring more avenues in which she became the Manager of a British themed Pub. Missing teaching, she spent time tutoring, working at after-school programs, and then back to the college atmosphere at Westwood College teaching Math.
In Emily’s free time, you will usually find her listening to live music at a local venue. She is also passionate about cooking and entertaining. You might find her building with Legos if you’re lucky!
