After growing up in rural Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Eleanor moved to Providence, Rhode Island and graduated from Brown University in 2017 with a B.A. in Classics and a B.A. in Medieval Cultures. During her undergraduate career, Eleanor focused her studies on ancient languages and linguistics, taking classes in Latin, Ancient Greek, Old English, Old Norse, Old Irish, Proto-Indo-European, and German. She completed her honors thesis on the topic of ritual sacrifice in Iron Age Ireland, combining evidence from literary, archaeological, and linguistic sources.
During her sophomore year of college, Eleanor spent four months studying abroad in Rome at the Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies, at the same time holding an internship at the Archaeological Study Collection at the American Academy in Rome. She spent the following three months in Berlin taking a class at Humboldt University. Eleanor has also travelled to Ireland, England, Austria, Czechia, Russia, Brazil, Mexico, and several Caribbean islands. She is always planning her next trip overseas.
In her free time, Eleanor enjoys knitting and cross-stitching, reading and writing historical fiction, and visiting art or archaeological museums. Eleanor is thrilled to have found Fusion and to have been given the opportunity to share her passion for language, literature, and history with the next generation.
