Dutch is one our amazing U.S. and World history teachers, and he also offers students guidance and help in the Homework Café. His passion for working with children has grown throughout the years and began at an early age. In high school, he worked as a counselor at a summer camp in the Chicago area called High Five Sports Camp. He enjoyed promoting sportsmanship, leadership, and confidence for children ages 9-12. Dutch then earned his Bachelor’s degree in history at Denison University. He completed his senior research on the experiences of slaves on slave ships during the 17th and 18th century. Throughout college he wanted to find a way to return to mentoring and found Fusion to be the perfect fit!
While at Denison, Dutch also played golf in the NCAC league and was the captain of the varsity team. He has played golf since a very early age and got his first hole in one when he was only 17! Dutch loves to golf, but he has recently discovered a love for biking and hiking. He also enjoys watching documentaries and spending time with his large and loud family.
