Dan Schechter graduated from Occidental College in 2015, where he was given permission to create his own major. Called “Philosophy of Life”, his course-load allowed him to explore the natural world in detail through Bio and Chem classes, while granting him opportunity to consider it all on the macro scale. He parlayed these twin interests into a teaching career, where he has had the privilege of teaching a variety of students- from West Point matriculants to struggling middle schoolers. He hopes to share his love of making connections between disciplines, in order to contribute to a more holistic education.
By night, he plays various stages around LA with his band, and/or holes up in an air conditioned room to help produce the tracks they’re working on. Above all, he loves making things and sharing them with others, whether it’s music, art, or a particularly fine lesson plan.
