Clayton was born in raised in north Houston. After graduating high school, he threw a dart at a map and ended up at Mayville State University in North Dakota. Mayville is a small farming community of 2,000. One stop light where everyone knows everyone type of town.
After graduating from Mayville, he continued his education at the University of North Dakota and began teaching in the Grand Forks Public Schools. After graduation from UND, he decided to move back to Houston, teach, and attend the University of Houston-Downtown.
In his career, he has taught Kindergarten, 6th grade world cultures and language arts, 7th grade gifted and talented language arts, and middle school English as a second language. Along with being the assistant director of Fusion Houston Galleria, he is also an adjunct professor teaching preservice teachers the laws, philosophies, and pedagogy of ESL education.
Clayton loves spending time in Maine during the summer. For the seven summers before starting at Fusion, he helped run an all boys’ sports camp on Lake Cobbosseeconte in Monmouth, ME. When he is not working, he loves road trips, concerts, tubing down the Guadalupe River, sitting around a camp fire, and going to the movies.
