Caitlin Banez is delighted to join the diverse and vibrant community at Fusion Academy Rockville! She is excited to share her enthusiasm for foreign languages and the humanities with her students. Caitlin graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park in May 2018, earning her bachelor’s degree in French and Spanish with minors in Sustainability and Religious Studies. During this time, she participated in the Language House immersion program which prepared her for studying abroad in Sevilla, Spain. Throughout her undergraduate career, she became well acquainted with Washington, D.C. as a government intern for an international agency which provided her the opportunity to collaborate with policymakers and even contributed in organizing a summit on global education. As an upperclassman, she taught French and Spanish to sixth through twelfth graders at an alternative school and became a teaching assistant at her university for an architecture course on sustainable placemaking.
Caitlin’s favorite pastimes include spending time with her family and two puppies, creating studio ceramics, gardening and boxing. She also enjoys experiencing cultures through travel, dance and cuisine. Caitlin looks forward to getting to know her students and facilitating an optimal learning environment for each individual to explore and experience languages, literature and history.
