Brian Duggan is excited to join Fusion Alexandria as the Head of School and use his background in teaching, education management, and school administration to serve Fusion’s students and families.
As a first-generation college graduate, access to quality school options transformed the course of Brian’s life. This experience led Brian to enter the field of education and join Teach For America following his graduation from the University of Oregon. While in Teach For America, Brian worked as a classroom teacher at a school serving at-risk and high-need students in Minneapolis. Brian then moved to New York City to teach at Uncommon Schools, one of the highest-performing charter school networks in the country. Following this, Brian joined the staff of Teach For America as a Manager of Teacher Leadership Development. In that role, he provided instructional coaching and leadership development training to elementary, middle, and high school teachers at schools across New York City. Most recently, Brian served as a Principal and Assistant Principal at a college prep focused K-8 charter school. Brian’s personal and professional experiences have solidified his conviction that providing families with school choice and a wide variety of educational models is essential to meeting the needs of all students. This has given him a deep belief in the mission of Fusion and the power of one-to-one classrooms.
Brian holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Oregon and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota. In his free time, Brian enjoys traveling to Oregon to visit his niece and nephew, hiking, playing ice hockey, walking his dog, Hobbes, and exploring the DMV region with friends and family.
