Brenda Belohoubek is multi-faceted artist, whose versatile crossover soprano has been heard in concerts, festivals, and various productions nationwide including those at the Detroit Opera Theatre, Opera America, Bruno Walter Auditorium at Lincoln Center, Avery Fisher Hall, and Carnegie Hall.
Her glistening coloratura and warm, lyrical voice have earned her a numerous variety of roles including Musetta (La Bohème), Susanna (The Marriage of Figaro), Bastienne (Bastien und Bastienne), Euridice (Orfeo ed Euridice), Josephine (HMS Pinafore), Sophie (Werther), and both Frasquita and Micaëla (Carmen).
In addition to opera, Brenda excels in singing jazz, musical theatre, and contemporary styles. She also enjoys performing new works, having premiered the role of Lisa in Robert Butt’s Cask of Amontillado in 2014, was a featured soloist during the 2016-17 season for the Helix New Music Concert Series at Mason Gross. On Thursday nights, she can sometimes be heard at Arturo’s in Midland Park as a guest singer with her father Axel Belohoubek, one of their house pianists.
Brenda frequently sings with various musical groups in the Greater New York area. This season, she will be returning as a Young Artist in Residence with Sonaré, part of the Minuetto Music Festival. She also performs with The Village Carolers, a Victorian caroling group whose first CD featured Brenda as a soloist, and she can also be heard singing at Preakness Reformed Church in Wayne, NJ.
Brenda’s interests also include the education of others within her community. In addition to performing, she teaches music lessons through several online platforms. She is the music and drama teacher at Fusion Academy in Englewood, the vocal adjunct instructor at Ramapo and Indian Hills Regional High Schools and runs BB Studios, a growing studio in Bergen County for voice, flute, and piano. Outside of music, Brenda is a life coach and an ESL instructor with VIPKID. She is also frequently selected for modeling engagements.
Brenda holds a Masters of Music in Opera Performance from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University and a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from William Paterson University. She is also an internationally certified TEFL/TESOL teacher accredited by TQUK through the British Government by the International TEFL Academy.
