Barb Rieger is a teacher of American Sign Language at Fusion Academy. She is also certified to teach English, Public Speaking and Theatre. Barb graduated from Illinois State University, with a double major in Deaf Education and Theatre. She then went on to obtain a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from National-Louis University and a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Concordia University Chicago. Barb has taught PreK – 12th grade for the past 25 years. She has taught both special education and regular education. At Kinzie School, in Chicago, she spent 10 years co-teaching a gifted fine arts program for both deaf and hearing students. Barb has also written and directed plays and musicals for children of all ages and coached and judged IHSA Speech Team.
In her spare time, Barb likes to spend time with her husband, children and three cats. Barb has worked as a professional singer and actor for many years. For the past 2 years, she has been the Director of Christian Education at Community Presbyterian Church in Lombard.
