Ayako serves as the Head of School for Fusion Academy San Francisco. Prior to her current role, she was the Electives Department Head then the Assistant Director. Ayako has three bachelor’s degrees: B.A. in German Literature from Chuo University in Tokyo, B.F.A. in Painting from Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze in Florence, and B.A. in Art from San Francisco State University. She also holds a California Clear Single Subject Teaching Credential in Art from San Diego State University and a Master of Arts in Teaching in Secondary Education from Brandman University. Before joining Fusion, she taught at private and public schools in the Bay Area, serving students with diverse backgrounds and learning differences.
Being an advocate for differentiated instruction for each individual student, Ayako strives to bring in creative and engaging teaching methods to our Fusion teachers. She is also committed to creating a warm and welcoming school environment for all students by fostering compassion and respect. Having played sports for most of her life (once won an MVP award at the European Lacrosse Championships, believe it or not!), Ayako also values team spirit, collaboration and discipline in her life. She is also a dedicated artist and loves spending time on art with her artist husband on the weekends.
