Science of Languages, EHESS (France)
Angela is our new French teacher who brings to Fusion Academy a multicultural background and a passion for education reflected in her many years of teaching at all levels and in different educational systems.
She was educated in Romania, earning a Diploma in Philology (BA) from Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca. In the 90s, she spent almost a decade in Paris, where she was involved in linguistic research at Paris IV- Sorbonne University and was enrolled in a doctoral program at École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales where she earned a DEA (Master’s) in Sciences of Language.
In March 1999, she came to the United States, and since then, she taught French at Houghton College, in Houghton, NY, at Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center, in Monterey, CA, and in private and public high schools in Los Angeles county (Maranatha HS, Alverno HS and Claremont HS), while continuing also her own professional development with training and certifications in foreign language instruction and in technology at DLI, as well as in Needs Assessment and Curriculum Development at Monterey Institute of International Studies.
Angela is passionate not only about teaching the language intricacies, but she likes to share and to bring, in different and funny ways, the foreign culture in the classroom, helping her students to develop a cultural awareness and a spirit of understanding and tolerance towards the global world in which we live.
When not teaching and preparing for her classes, Angela loves helping people and upholds her moral values through different volunteer work. Last, but not least, she shares with her 11 years old “puppy”, Angel, a love for the outside fun activities, and, for her friends, she enjoys cooking delicious Romanian and French food, and going with them to movies, concerts and many interesting international cultural events in the LA area.
