Amber is a teacher/mentor in English/Language Arts, Social Studies, and Spanish. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes rigor and strong relationships while making work meaningful for students. She loves to help students reach goals that will allow them to pursue their passions and interests. A National Board Certified Teacher, she taught various subjects at the middle school level for several years and served as a part-time AVID Strategies instructional coach. Amber was also an AmeriCorps volunteer and worked as a violence prevention coordinator/mediator for two years after college. She earned her Master’s degree in Teaching from the University of Washington. As an undergraduate double majoring in History and European Studies Spanish at Seattle Pacific University, Amber worked in a cancer research laboratory at the University of Washington, competed on the Cross Country and Track and Field teams, and studied abroad in Salamanca, Spain. Amber enjoys spending time with her husband, three children, and friends, going on long runs in pretty places, volunteering, reading, crafts, and being in the great outdoors.
