Amanda is the Special Education Lead and Humanities teacher at Fusion Academy and holds her dual certification in Social Studies and Special Education. She received her bachelor’s degree in History and Social Studies Education from Stony Brook University. Amanda is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Social Work through Touro College with a concentration in pet assisted therapy.
Amanda spent the last few years working in the New York City Department of Education where she specialized in teaching social studies in an inclusive classroom setting. As a classroom teacher, Amanda is well versed with incorporating technology in a meaningful way into her lessons. Her teaching practices focus on project based learning where she creates assignments that are both meaningful and content driven.
When Amanda is not teaching she enjoys spending time with her rescue dog Rugby and volunteering at her local animal shelter. A big supporter of the arts, Amanda spends her free time often catching local musicians or artists performing throughout Brooklyn.
