Born and raised in Chicago’s northern suburbs, Alyssa attended Stevenson High School (Lincolnshire, IL) and went on to receive a BFA in dance at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with additional coursework at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts (New York, NY) and Columbia College (Chicago, IL).
Alyssa danced professionally in New York, Chicago, and Pittsburgh with various choreographers and companies, including Kyle Abraham and the Pillow Project. Recently, she directed the dance program at Regina Dominican High School (Wilmette, IL) and served as a teaching artist and advisor for Design Dance (Chicago, IL). She also worked as a choreographer-in-residence for various public school dance programs, including New Trier High School (Winnetka, IL) and Libertyville High School (Libertyville, IL). In addition to performing and teaching, Alyssa served as an administrator and writing professional for a variety of educational and artistic non-profits, including Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival (Becket, MA), Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh, PA), and Northwestern University (Evanston, IL).
Alyssa proudly joined Fusion Academy’s faculty in June 2016, where she currently teaches yoga, fitness, dance, and film/media studies.
