Ashten is a teacher/mentor specializing in social studies here at Fusion Southlake. She grew up in Mesquite, Texas and after graduating high school played softball for two years at Grayson County College. Afterwards, she received a scholarship at Southern Arkansas University but had to give softball up because of an injury. She graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with a BA in Liberal Arts majoring in History and minoring in Sociology. After college she traveled for a while. She volunteered with orphans in Peru, was an aupair for a wonderful family in Northern Italy, and lived in Istanbul, Turkey for a year. After traveling, she came home and began teaching geography and coaching soccer and volleyball at a charter school in Dallas. Then she found Fusion and was one of the inaugural teachers at the Southlake Campus teaching history, English, and life skills. She decided that she was not quite finished exploring the world so she moved to Wroclaw, Poland where she taught math, science, English, and social studies at an American school for a year. Afterwards she came home and wanted to try her hand coaching at a big 6A school so she taught geography and coached volleyball and softball at North Mesquite High School. After helping the Lady Stallions get to the playoffs for the first time in 9 years, she caught the travel bug again and moved to Hanoi, Vietnam. She lived in Vietnam for a year traveling and teaching. Now, she is home, ready to inspire and educate the wonderful students at Fusion Southlake.
