Andy Villalobos

World Language Department Head & Teacher/Mentor

Andy is an experienced international educator. He is passionate about teaching and improving society through Social Studies. Currently, he is a part of the History Department and the Foreign Language Department at Fusion Academy.

Andy is finishing his M.A. in History from California State University, Northridge. He received his B.A. in History from CSUN and an A.A. in Administration of Justice from College of the Canyons. In addition, he obtained his CBEST certification and is testing at the N3 level of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test.

His career in education began as a teaching assistant for a university-level History course. However, Andy also spent three years teaching English and Culture in rural Japan. During this period, he taught all age groups and volunteered time to work with special needs learners. He was well known and admired in his area as a teacher, active member of the community, and co-host of a local television program for kids. During his free time, Andy is active with weight lifting, walking his dog, kickboxing, and hiking. His favorite summits include Mt. Fuji and Mt. Whitney. Andy believes travel is a key component to education so he has explored such countries as China, Thailand, Spain, France, Portugal, Malaysia, Korea, Macau, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Japan and more! He is an avid “foodie“ and has eaten such unique foods as scorpions, basashi (raw horse), and whale sushi. At home, Andy watches television and movies, reads comic books, studies history and Japanese, plays games, and web surfs on his iPad.
