Academic research on the science of how we learn has yielded more insights in the last two decades than ever before, yet most of it is unused by our school system. What does research reveal about how students learn vs how they should learn to optimize the process? Uncover the scientific principles that underpin student learning success. A students success in life after school will be greatly dependent on their ability to become independent lifelong learners. To what extent are schools focusing their efforts accordingly? With a plethora of private learning programs claiming to fill the gaps left by school systems (failing to adequately address learning differences and/or target cognition to improve learning), how do you audit which programs work and why?
Join us for a complimentary lunch while the Founder of COGx Javier Arguello, engages in an interactive discussion and informed presentation to answer these questions and more.
Javier is the Founder and Executive Director of COGx, a Washington DC based research and development firm in applied cognitive science. In partnership with leading academic researchers and scientists, COGx translates scientific discoveries in human learning to evidence-based programs that target cognition in order to enhance learning ability, alongside student courses on the science of learning, and professional development for educators. COGx has been recognized by the US government as a leading company helping to improve learning outcomes.
Javier’s experiences struggling to learn educated him on how behaviors, emotions and cognition affect academic success. Through his own struggles he became deeply introspective and self-aware while developing techniques to improve his approach to learning. Javier later earned scholarships and graduate degrees from Yale and Harvard and a fellowship to conduct research at MIT’s Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences.
Javier has published over 40 articles and essays and presented at the numerous global conferences including the World Government Summit, Global Positive Education Conference. He has also been interviewed by CNN and other global news outlets. Javier serves as co-chair of the Yale Alumni Association chapter in Washington, D.C.
We look forward to learning about you, too.
