Daniel Takashima

Math & Science Teacher/Mentor

Dan is a Math and Science Teacher at Fusion. Prior to discovering Fusion, Dan taught math at a charter school in Hayward and at a charter school in Chicago. This followed two years of working as a special education aide, before which Dan earned a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan.  Sharing passions for maths, sciences, and being a lifelong learner – whether building on existing interests or searching for new connections – is Dan’s daily pursuit.  After 5 years at Fusion, Dan appreciates the freedom to truly differentiate for and learn with each student.

Outside the classroom, wait, what’s outside the classroom?  Yep, outside the Fusion classroom Dan can still be found nerding out – on BBC nature documentaries, YouTube channels like TED Ed, TED, Veritasium, Vsauce, 3Blue1Brown, Kurzgesagt, MinutePhysics and more.  Check them out!  Dan also throws in swimming, running, soccer, hiking, snowboarding when possible, yoga, and a mix of books, preferably in the park.  What are you reading?
