It is well known that friendships and peer acceptance are essential for happiness and well-being throughout life. From early childhood on, those who are well liked are able to enjoy greater social success, emotional satisfaction, resilience and physical health than those who are not. Qualities for likability can be learned at any age, resulting in significant changes in self-esteem and optimism.

Dr. Fagen will highlight key social skills that improve likability and promote making and keeping friends, while illustrating activities and interactions that enhance showing care about self and others in his social skills therapy groups. Parent practices to enhance their teens progress, and the question of whether popularity can help or hinder long-termĀ  adjustment will be addressed.
