Dear Fusion Community,
For months, our COVID-19 task force has reviewed options and worked with campus leaders to create return-to-campus plans. With the ever-changing COVID-19 landscape our plans will continue to evolve as we learn new information. We appreciate your trust as we navigate this new normal together.
Several states and communities have passed ordinances that prevent schools from reopening under any circumstance until the local situation improves. For example, California Governor Newsom announced new rules for reopening schools. California schools may reopen for live instruction only after the counties in which the schools reside have been off the County Monitoring List for 14 consecutive days. As of today, all California Fusion campuses are in counties on the watch list. Other parts of the country are experiencing similar orders, while others are open or preparing to reopen.
Fusion operates 61 campuses in 16 states and the District of Columbia, and thus these varied rules make it difficult to implement a standard reopening plan for all Fusion campuses. Fusion’s smaller school environment allows us to maintain social distancing and monitor other safety measures effectively, and thus beyond local ordinances and the level of COVID-19 in the local community, we are confident that we can reopen safely with a hybrid model of in-person and virtual learning. Of course, we will respect local restrictions and follow guidance from public health officials.
Moving forward, our local regional support teams, working in conjunction with campus employees, will determine how an individual campus will reopen. At a minimum, campuses will provide virtual learning for our students. Some campuses will be able to go beyond virtual and offer hybrid opportunities, allowing parents and staff to select on-campus or virtual participation or both. If you are a current family, connect with your campus for the most up-to-date information. If you are not a current Fusion family but are interested in what your nearest campus is doing, click here to find and connect with them.
Thank you for your support. Regardless of COVID-19 impact, Fusion is uniquely positioned to maintain effective 1:1 teaching in a virtual, hybrid, or in-person environment.
With gratitude,
Jeff Poole
President & Chief Operating Officer
