I started my career as a tenure-line faculty member, and successfully fulfilled the departmental goals of revamping their large-lecture introductory calculus-based physics courses. I began private tutoring in 2015, at first to raise extra money to help pay for my dog’s knee reconstruction surgery. I realized how much I missed working with individual students, and I thrived in the freedom tutoring afforded. I left formal academia and became a full-time tutor in June, 2015. I am now working on my master’s degree in Science Education in order to increase my skills and to prepare myself for full time work with high school students.
