Maria Beltran

Director of Homework Café

Maria is the Director of Homework Café at Fusion Academy Pasadena.   Born and raised in the Washington DC area, she moved to Los Angeles in 2004 to study communication and cinema at USC.  She was working for a voiceover talent agency when some soul searching at the La Brea tar pits inspired her to leave the business completely and start teaching film and media at a local private high school— the rest is history!

Maria is proud to have been working with the Fusion family since 2015.  As DHC, her main vision is centered on students feeling comfortable in their own skin – through compassion and humor, she believes all students have identities worthy of celebration as they strive for excellence in their schoolwork and prosperity in their social lives.

When she’s not relating to the teens or palling around with her beloved family and friends, Maria can be found dining her way through northeast LA, catching up on her Hulu shows, or basking in the quirky humanity of Americana (the concept, not the outdoor mall!).  To know Maria is to know of her obsession with Back to the Future.
