EVENT - Dr.Christine Carter – Skills teens need for happiness, productivity, performance – and how parents can help

10/30/2018 7:00 pm – 08:30 pm | Campus Events

Drawing on what psychology, sociology, and neuroscience have shown about success and fulfillment—and using her own chaotic and often hilarious real-world experiences as the mother of four teens to demonstrate do’s and don’ts in action—Christine Carter, PhD, gives parents practical tips for nurturing both achievement and happiness in teenagers today. She’ll discuss how and why smartphones and social media are undermining our kids’ success and happiness, and she’ll give us simple, science-based strategies for helping kids fulfill their potential in an age of distraction.

Christine Carter, Ph.D. is a Senior Fellow at the Greater Good Science Center. She is the author of The Sweet Spot: How to Accomplish More by Doing Less (Ballantine Books, 2015) and Raising Happiness: 10 Simple Steps for More Joyful Kids and Happier Parents (Random House, 2010). A former director of the GGSC, she served for many years as author of its parenting blog, Raising Happiness.
