Abubakarr Yalancy


Abu was born in Freetown, the capital city of Sierra Leone. There, he did six (6) of primary education at Saint Anthony Primary School. He took the National Primary School Examination (NPSE) in 6th grade where he scored one of the best results in the country to enter Junior High School. He did his Junior and Senior high school at the Sierra Leone Grammar School. In 2007, Abu took the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) to enter university.

Abu earned his first bachelor’s degree in Physics with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Sierra Leone in 2011. He went on to teach for one year at the Sierra Leone Grammar School. Abu has more than seven years’ experience in tutoring and mentoring students in and out of classroom settings. He started tutoring at hus junior year in college at high school level and has helped students in various disciplines like Math, Science and Engineering.

In 2013, Abu enrolled for his second bachelor degree in Electronics Engineering at DeVry University. He worked in the Academic Success Centre at DeVry as a Faculty Assistant, Math Tutor and a front desk receptionist in the library. In his sophomore year at DeVry, he was the secretary for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) DeVry students’ chapter and the treasurer for International Society of Automation (ISA).

In his leisure time, he loves to read books, watch movies and play sports.
