Kyra grew up in Marin and moved away after high school to attend Pitzer College in Los Angeles. Although she originally anticipated on studying literature, while there, she discovered her passion for education and its intersection with holistic health. She graduated with a Bachelors in Community Health, a major that encompassed health practices, education, art and psychology. While in school she did internships tutoring in bilingual reading, teaching writing classes to women in prison, and creating a garden with teenagers at a continuation high school.
After graduating Kyra has spent her time teaching ceramics classes to children and adults at a studio in Berkeley and doing care-taking/counseling in the South Bay. On her summers off from work she has spent two months learning Portuguese in Brasil and two months brushing up on Spanish in Mexico. When she is not working, you can either find her doing ceramics at her east bay studio or doing fabric dying/sewing/woodworking/painting/ and or projects featuring any other recently happened-upon material. Beyond her love for art and education, she also enjoys riding her bicycle around the bay and beyond; in 2014 she rode from San Francisco to New Orleans!
