Amy Gutekunst

Interim Director of Student Development

Amy is originally from Bucks County, Pennsylvania and grew up an hour north of Philadelphia. She went to Temple University for her Bachelors’ of Science in Chemistry with Teaching. After graduating she was passionately teaching for five years in charter and public schools as a Science teacher in both Philadelphia and Jersey City. She has a passion for serving diverse students and has taught students from all backgrounds, abilities, and languages. She has also pursued learning Spanish by minoring in Spanish during her undergraduate career, studying abroad in Spain, and traveling to Guatemala during her summers. Additionally, she taught English in an after school program in El Salvador. Educating students has always been important to her and she has dedicated her life to bettering the lives of her students.

Although educating students has been her driving passion, in June of 2018 Amy began a new role as a Program and Operations Coordinator for a financial services company. She enjoyed the role of organizing schedules and projects within the company, however she missed the interactions with students and families. She began exploring educational roles and came upon Fusion Academy. She began at Fusion as a Science and Math Substitute Teacher in October and has since transitioned into the Interim Director of Student Development. She loves her new role and being able to combine her passion for organization and small details with the opportunity to work with Fusion’s students and families.

Outside of Fusion Amy enjoys spending time with her friends and family, going for long runs, trying new foods, traveling, and playing with her dog.
