Claire Seeman

French Teacher/Mentor

Claire Seeman is a native Washingtonian who teaches French language and culture.  She spent close to ten years in New York, where she received a B.A. in Philosophy from Fordham University and a M.A in French Literature from New York University.  Later she earned a M.A. in Language and Cultural Studies from Boston University.

Claire has spent over twenty years in the wonderful field of education.  She first taught French at Fordham Preparatory School in the Bronx for three years, and then was fortunate to teach second and third graders in public school immersion programs in Massachusetts and Virginia.  She also served as coordinator of a French immersion program in Montgomery County, Maryland for eight years.  While in graduate school at Boston University she taught English in an intergenerational literacy center in Chelsea, Massachusetts to Bosnian and Latino immigrants.

Since moving to Leesburg a few years ago, she has learned what she was missing out on all these years; she has easily adapted to small town and country living. She enjoys spending time with her husband, reading and traveling, and visiting her family in Washington.
