Urte Franitza Goldstein
Urte is excited to be joining Fusion Academy as a History teacher and to share her enthusiasm for all things old and new which let us understand why we are where are today, as a society and as individuals. Her journey to teaching has been a bit unconventional and she brings with her many years of experience in various fields. After a successful career in corporate banking, Urte realized the most rewarding times in the financial world were those where she reached out to new trainees to clarify various banking concepts and being rewarded with that “Ah Ha!” moment.
Urte received her BA in Sociology from Long Island University with a minor in Business. She completed her graduate class work at SUNY Old Westbury in Secondary Education in Social Studies with a concentration in Special Education. Urte is a native German speaker, having moved to the United States with her parents and sister when she was younger. She is currently employed as a German teacher and has been teaching German for the past six years and has also taught in both private and public schools on Long Island. Urte especially loves teaching anything to do with culture, since its roots can always be traced back through history and its understanding impacts how students see themselves and the world around them. She would love to use her passion for education and learning to help students realize their potential and be better prepared for college work.
When she is not teaching, or learning, herself, she can be found spending time with her two, high school and college-aged, sons, who are the light of her life. Urte is passionate about almost anything having to do with art and has been known to create the occasional painting herself. When weather permits, Urte loves to ride her bike, swim and of course spend time with her two furry kids, CoCo and Stig.
