Teaching students at all skill levels/abilities, backgrounds, and proficiencies. She taught English and History with G.A.T.E students, basic life skills at a group home for emotionally disturbed teen girls, after-school programs designed for at-risk youth, and a number of enrichment programs in Orange County.
Erin spends her summers mentoring children at various camps in Southern California. Having a well-known soft spot for the underdog, she enjoys fostering creativity, self-expression, and growth in a safe space where the children can truly feel like they can be themselves.
She believes that students can be empowered through discovery learning and taking control of their own lives to become happy, well-adjusted free thinkers in society.
Her passion is connecting history to real life situations that foster passion and excitement in her students. She believes that literature and history are two subjects that allow for students to freely express and develop their own opinions and perspectives in a safe space. This can be done through discussion, art, and journaling. Literature can be an intimidating force, but with guidance, it can help students express and understand who they are.
Erin enjoys watching scary movies and spending time with her husband and her cat on the weekends. As a lifelong learner, she enjoys reading philosophy, creating art, and running in several 5Ks that keep her body as fit as her mind.
