“Stressed out, overwhelmed, I can’t take this anymore” – these are the words many youths use that enter our offices. Referred to often as the most stressed out generation in modern US history, teens today are struggling with increased stressors and a coping skill arsenal that just isn’t producing sufficient levels of relief. Despite this common clinical presentation, many clinicians struggle knowing how to motivate their teen clients to work on factors known to promote resiliency and improved life functioning. This strengths-based presentation will draw from several adolescent/ young adult evidence-based models of resiliency building, and will offer clinicians ways to assess the possible deficits and resources of clients and develop data-driven, personalized resiliency building treatment interventions. Specific attention will also be given to helping increase client motivation and reducing barriers that limit the potential of resiliency building interventions.
We will be donating toys to Toys for Tots, so those who bring a new, wrapped toy will be entered into a raffle to win a prize!
Light refreshments will be served.
