This course sparks students curiosity in discovering the interconnectedness and diversity of our living world. Each student will begin by exploring how to test the validity of claims for each concept addressed in the standards. Following this activity students will summarize data collected on the claims, and generate potential questions for further study. The following units will build on this new knowledge, ensuring that students keep a critical scientific lens throughout, as each new concept is presented and discussed. All the units in the course will include a focus on: biological and environmental literacy, authentic laboratory experiences, determining the validity of claims, participating in citizen science, designing new studies based on their questions, and methods of analyzing their collected data.
